EDITORS COMMENTS
The print showcases the title page of the first edition of Robert Hooke's Micrographia, published in London in 1665. This iconic image represents a significant milestone in the field of microscopy, as it contains the very first illustration of cells. Adorned with intricate details and symbols, this historical artifact captures the essence of scientific revolution during that era. The coat of arms and crown symbolize royal patronage and recognition bestowed upon Hooke's groundbreaking work by English society. A dog and an eagle flank either side, representing loyalty and wisdom respectively. Hooke's Micrographia was not just a book; it was a literary masterpiece that opened up new horizons for scientific exploration.
