EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we are transported back in time to witness a profound moment between two legendary figures - Alexander the Great and Aristotle. The image beautifully captures the essence of their unique relationship as teacher and pupil. Seated on an ornate chair, Alexander listens intently while Aristotle imparts his wisdom. Dressed in regal attire, the young emperor is eager to absorb every word from his esteemed tutor. The fine artistry of Jean Leon Gerome Ferris brings this historical scene to life with meticulous detail. The painting itself dates back to 1895 but depicts a period around 342-335 B. C. , during which Aristotle tutored Alexander in various subjects including philosophy and politics. This interaction played a significant role in shaping Alexander's intellectual growth and leadership abilities. Both men exude an air of intellect and power, representing different aspects of ancient Greek society - one as a philosopher par excellence, the other as a conqueror destined for greatness. Their meeting symbolizes the fusion of knowledge and ambition that defined Hellenic Republic during that era. This remarkable print serves as a reminder of how influential teachers can be in molding future leaders. It celebrates not only the brilliance of these historical figures but also pays homage to education's transformative power throughout history.
