EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the haunting beauty of an abandoned building standing on wooden poles near the water on a rocky ground. Taken by talented photographer Morten Falch Sortland in Hellesøy, Norway, this image transports us to a forgotten place frozen in time. The old structure stands tall against the backdrop of a moody autumn sky and overcast weather, creating an atmosphere filled with mystery and melancholy. The sea gently caresses the rocks below, adding a sense of tranquility amidst the desolation. As we gaze at this photograph, our imagination wanders through its worn-out walls and broken windows. We can almost hear whispers from its past inhabitants and envision stories that unfolded within these decaying walls. Nature has begun to reclaim what was once man-made; vines creep up the sides while moss blankets parts of its exterior. The composition is masterfully framed, highlighting both the grandeur of nature's elements and the fragile state of human architecture. The contrast between strength and vulnerability is strikingly evident as we witness how time erodes even our most solid creations. This print serves as a reminder that everything eventually fades away but leaves behind traces that evoke emotions within us. It invites contemplation about impermanence, resilience, and our connection to places long forgotten.
