Bevelled wood effect frame, card mounted, 15x10 archival quality photo print. Overall outside dimensions 21x16 inches (54x41cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: To minimise original artwork cropping, for optimum layout, and to ensure print is secure, the visible print may be marginally smaller

This black and white lithograph, titled "The War in South Africa" captures a significant moment during the Second Boer War. Created by Melton Prior and published in The Illustrated London News on June 23,1900, this print showcases the jubilant scenes that unfolded across South Africa. In the foreground of the image, Lord Kitchener stands tall amidst a group of school children who are eagerly waving flags to celebrate their relief from war's grip. Behind them, military personnel can be seen crossing a bridge towards the Diamond Jubilee Pavilion. The town guard proudly displays their uniforms as they march through West Street. Decorated carts filled with supplies pass by Mr. Prior himself, capturing his attention as he immortalizes this historic event through his artistry. Mafeking Day is being commemorated with firing guns and rejoicings throughout Market Square while Lord Roberts addresses the crowd gathered at Town Hall.
