EDITORS COMMENTS
In this poignant moment captured at McDiarmid Park on July 11, 2012, former St. Johnstone player Jody Morris makes an emotional return to his former club during a pre-season friendly against Bristol City. Morris spent three successful years with St. Johnstone from 2009 to 2012, helping them secure promotion to the Championship in his final season. As the teams took to the field for the pre-season friendly, the atmosphere was charged with anticipation. For Morris, however, the air was thick with nostalgia and a hint of apprehension. The midfielder, who had left St. Johnstone to join Championship side Bristol City in the off-season, was making his first appearance against his former team. The photograph captures the intensity of the moment as Morris, now a member of the opposition, walks onto the pitch, his expression a mix of excitement and trepidation. The crowd at McDiarmid Park, a sea of blue and white, watches intently as their beloved son returns to his old stomping ground. The players from both teams exchange warm greetings, a testament to the enduring bonds forged during their time together in the lower leagues. This bittersweet reunion serves as a reminder of the transient nature of football and the connections that endure long after players have moved on. For Jody Morris, it was a homecoming filled with memories, emotions, and a renewed appreciation for the game that brought him back to his roots.
