A Typhoon F2 fighter in close formation with a Tornado F3

A Typhoon F2 fighter aircraft (top) from 11 Squadron, RAF Coningsby in close formation with a Tornado F3 aircraft formerly from the same Squadron.
Tornados first flew with this historic Squadron in 1988. In Oct 2005 the Squadron was disbanded but reformed again at RAF Coningsby on 29 Mar 07 as the RAFs second frontline Typhoon squadron. As the multi-role lead squadron, it spearheads the development of Typhoons air-to-surface capability, which was ready for deployed operations by the summer of 2008

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the power and precision of two legendary aircraft, a Typhoon F2 fighter and a Tornado F3, flying in perfect harmony. The Typhoon F2, belonging to 11 Squadron at RAF Coningsby, takes the lead position while the Tornado F3 gracefully follows suit. The historical significance of this image is not lost as both aircraft have shared a remarkable journey together. The Tornado first joined 11 Squadron in 1988, becoming an integral part of its legacy. However, in October 2005, the squadron was disbanded only to be reformed again on March 29th, 2007 at RAF Coningsby as the Royal Air Force's second frontline Typhoon squadron. As the multi-role lead squadron for the RAF's Typhoons, it has played a pivotal role in advancing their air-to-surface capabilities. By summer 2008, these cutting-edge fighters were ready for deployed operations thanks to the dedication and expertise of those serving with this prestigious unit. In this close formation flight captured by Armed Forces' lensman, we witness not just two extraordinary machines soaring through the skies but also a testament to human ingenuity and teamwork that propels our armed forces forward. This photograph serves as a reminder of their unwavering commitment to protecting our skies and defending our nation's interests with unrivaled excellence.
