Little Wood Mouse Collection

The Little Wood Mouse (Apodemus sylvaticus) is a species of Muridae mammal in the family of rodents, and is found throughout Europe, North Africa and parts of Asia, greyish-brown fur with white underparts and long whiskers and has large ears, small eyes and a pointed snout. Its tail is shorter than its body length and it has five toes on each foot. The Little Wood Mouse feeds mainly on seeds, nuts, fruits and insects but will also eat bird eggs when available. It builds nests in hollow trees or burrows in the ground to hide from predators such as foxes or cats. In winter it hibernates in its nest or burrow until spring arrives again when it will emerge to feed once more before breeding season begins again in late summer/early autumn.
