Hispidus Collection

Hispidus is a genus of small, burrowing rodents in the family Geomyidae, and are found throughout North and Central America, ranging from southern Canada to northern Costa Rica. These animals have short legs and long tails, with a body length of up to 8 inches. The fur is usually gray or brownish-gray in color, with white on the underside and black stripes along the back and can mainly nocturnal creatures that feed on insects, roots, fruits and other plant material. They make their homes in burrows underground or among rocks and logs above ground.
