Us-Space-Galileo Image-Earth and Moon

This NASA composite file image shows the Earth and its Moon captured separately in 1992 by the Galileo spacecraft as it travelled on its way to explore the Jupiter system in 1995-97. Following eight years of exploring Jupiter and its moons, the spacecraft will plunge into Jupiter's atmosphere 21 September, 2003, to eliminate any chance of an unwanted collision between the spacecraft and the moon Europa, which Galileo discovered is likely to have a subsurface ocean.
