Take it steady... Wayne Nield tried his hand and the sand dip
Take it steady... Wayne Nield tried his hand and the sand dip, which was one of the attractions in a charity carnival at a local pub. The car park at the Clothiers Arms, Stocksmoor, was packed for the event, organised by landlady Mrs Lynda Briggs. She hopes hundreds of pounds will have been raised to help the Examiners appeal and Guide Dogs for the Blind. Other events included a tug-o -war between local pubs, a disco, a display by Holmfirth Golden Girl Majorettes, a watersplash and numerous sideshows. 30th August 1987

The charity carnival offered much more than just sand dips; it brought together people from all walks of life for a day filled with laughter and entertainment. Local pubs engaged in friendly competition through events like tug-o-war while Holmfirth Golden Girl Majorettes showcased their talent with an impressive display.
