Zoo keeper Graeme Sheppard has been playing the unlikely role of mum
Zoo keeper Graeme Sheppard has been playing the unlikely role of mum to three-month-old chimp Neusi since she was born. The hard work was all worthwhile when he got a kiss as his reward. Graeme, 19, stepped in because real mother Jane was too ill to look after her baby. He even gets up in the middle of the night at London Zoo to feed the tiny chimp.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this heartwarming photo print, we witness the extraordinary bond between zookeeper Graeme Sheppard and three-month-old chimp Neusi. When her real mother Jane fell ill, it was Graeme who stepped in to take on the unlikely role of mum. The dedication and hard work he poured into caring for Neusi were all rewarded with a sweet kiss from his adorable surrogate baby. At just 19 years old, Graeme's commitment knows no bounds as he even sacrifices sleep to ensure that the tiny chimp is fed during those lonely nights at London Zoo. This snapshot captures not only their unique relationship but also showcases the compassion and love that can exist across species boundaries. The image exudes cuteness and humor as we see Neusi planting an affectionate peck on her caregiver's cheek. It serves as a reminder of the profound connections that can form between humans and animals, transcending any barriers or expectations. This touching photograph transports us back to April 1985, reminding us of simpler times when genuine relationships like these were cherished without commercial motives. It encapsulates the beauty of friendship found in unexpected places and brings warmth to our hearts even decades later.
