EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases "Two Studies Man ca 1575" a remarkable piece of art created by Santi di Tito, an Italian painter from Sansepolcro. Born in 1536 and passing away in 1603, di Tito was a pupil of renowned artists Bronzino and Alessandro Allori. He played a leading role in the generation of late sixteenth-century Tuscan painters who shifted their focus towards carefully observing life and depicting it through a direct pictorial language. In this particular artwork, di Tito's mastery is evident as he moves away from the abstract mannerist vocabulary that was popular at the time, opting instead for greater naturalism. The black chalk medium used on recto rulings adds depth to the composition while showcasing his technical prowess. The verso side of the sheet reveals intriguing insights into early collector practices. Measuring approximately 13 3/4 x 6 7/8 inches (35 x 17.5 cm), this drawing holds historical significance as it originated during a period when the Florentine Accademia del Disegno was founded in 1563. Artokoloro has expertly captured this timeless artwork with their high-quality photo print, allowing viewers to appreciate every intricate detail brought to life by Santi di Tito's skillful hand. This piece serves as both an homage to Italian Renaissance artistry and a testament to how artists like di Tito shaped the course of artistic expression throughout history.
