Gelada Tote Bag Collection

Gelada is a species of Old World monkey found in the highlands of Ethiopia, and is the only living member of its genus, Theropithecus, and belongs to the family Cercopithecidae, and are large primates with long, thick fur that ranges from light brown to dark gray in color. They have a distinctive red patch on their chest and a white mane around their neck and shoulders. Geladas live in large groups of up to 500 individuals and feed mainly on grasses, herbs, roots, fruits and flowers. They also eat insects such as ants and beetles for additional protein, and are highly social animals that spend much time grooming each other or playing games like chasing or wrestling. They communicate using vocalizations as well as facial expressions and body language. These primates have adapted well to their habitat but face threats from human activities such as hunting for food or sport and habitat destruction due to agriculture expansion or deforestation.
