This photogravure (by the Goupil engraving company) was published in New York, USA, and is based on an 1886 painting by US artist Charles Frederick Ulrich (1858-1908). Titled Glass Blowers of Murano, this painting dates from the period when Ulrich had established a home in Venice, Italy. Murano glass is produced on the Venetian island of Murano
