Paul Fischer, French naturalist

Paul Fischer (1835-1893), French naturalist and physician. Fischer trained in medicine, but also studied zoology. He was a palaeontologist at the Museum of Natural History in Paris, France, and also edited the Journal de Conchyliologie (on conchology, the study of mollusc shells). Fischer was also at various times president of several scientific societies, including the Geological Society of France and the Zoological Society of France.
