Bladder lining
Bladder epithelium. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the partially-sectioned epithelium of a healthy urinary bladder. This lining is formed from epithelial cells which have tiny plaques (yellow & green dots) on their surface. The epithelium is highly folded. The plaques and folds enable the bladder to deal with the large changes in surface area which occur as it fills or empties. Magnification unknown
