EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a moment in time at the Dower House Gallery in Lostwithiel, Cornwall, back in October 1993. The gallery was abuzz with excitement as it played host to an incredible joint exhibition by artist James Foot and potter John Webb. In the photo, we see James Foot on the left, his vibrant watercolor paintings adorning the walls behind him. His artwork showcases breathtaking views from Spain and Greece, as well as local scenes of the picturesque River Fowey. James' artistic journey began after attending Falmouth Art College and he has since spent 35 years residing in Greece. Throughout his career, he has held exhibitions across various countries including Athens, Gibraltar, and France. John Webb's contribution to this exhibition is equally remarkable. His ornamental and utility pieces take center stage in this snapshot; delicate teapots sit gracefully on a fireplace mantel while beautifully crafted bowls catch the eye. The photographer responsible for capturing this memorable scene is Jonathan Barker. Through his lens, he immortalizes not only the art but also a sense of warmth emanating from within these Cornish walls. This print serves as a testament to the rich artistic heritage that thrives within Cornwall's creative community – a true celebration of talent and craftsmanship that continues to inspire generations beyond its initial display at Royal Cornwall Museum.
