23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print by Jane Sweeney captures the essence of the Hamer (Hamar) people as they make their way back from a bull jumping ceremony in Turmi, Lower Omo Valley, Ethiopia. The image showcases a group of men and women walking under the vibrant African sunshine, creating striking silhouettes against the horizon. The tradition and cultural significance of this moment are palpable. The Hamer people, dressed in traditional attire, step with purpose and pride as they carry on their ancient customs. Their colorful garments add a touch of vibrancy to the scene while emphasizing their deep-rooted connection to their heritage. In this photograph, we witness both human and animal life intertwining harmoniously. Large groups of animals accompany these individuals on their journey home, symbolizing the integral role that livestock plays in Hamer culture. Jane Sweeney's skillful composition highlights not only the beauty of nature but also emphasizes negative space around her subjects. This technique allows us to focus solely on the figures themselves and invites contemplation about their rich history and unique way of life. Through this medium group shot captured in color imagery, Sweeney transports us to Eastern Africa's enchanting landscapes while shedding light on one particular community's customs and traditions. It serves as a reminder that travel is not just about exploring new destinations; it is an opportunity to immerse ourselves in diverse cultures that shape our world.
