17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative black-and-white photograph, Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club's legendary captain, Billy Wright, is seen in deep concentration as he trains tirelessly for the team's upcoming visit to Moscow in 1955. The image, captured by Press Association photographers, finds Wright hurdling over a series of obstacles with an intensity and focus that speaks to his unwavering dedication to the game. Wright, a central defender known for his tenacity and leadership, was a key figure in Wolves' success during the 1950s. His commanding presence on the pitch and ability to marshal his teammates earned him the nickname "The English Wall". With the Soviet Union's football team, Dynamo Moscow, set to host Wolves for a friendly match, Wright knew that he and his teammates would need to be in top form to compete against the formidable Russian squad. Training sessions like the one depicted in this photograph were an essential part of the Wolves' preparation for the Moscow trip. Wright's fellow teammates, including the young, up-and-coming talent Johnny Hancocks, could be seen in the background, watching and learning from their captain's example. Though Hancocks would not make the journey to Moscow, the experience of training alongside Wright and observing his unwavering work ethic would undoubtedly prove invaluable in his own footballing career. This photograph offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of professional football during the 1950s, a time when the sport was rapidly gaining popularity and international competition was becoming more commonplace. The determination and focus evident in Billy Wright's performance serve as a testament to the enduring spirit of competition that drives athletes to push themselves to the limit, both on and off the field.
