17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a defining moment in the life of Alberto Santos-Dumont, the Brazilian aeronaut and pioneer of aviation. In this image, we witness the aftermath of an unfortunate accident that occurred during his daring attempt at winning the prestigious Deutsch Prize. Santos-Dumont's airship can be seen precariously perched on the roof of a house along Quai de Passy in Paris. The wreckage serves as a testament to both the danger and excitement that accompanied early flight experiments. Despite this setback, Santos-Dumont's determination and unwavering spirit shine through. With his disheveled appearance, it is evident that he had just experienced a harrowing ordeal. Yet, there is an undeniable sense of resilience on his face as he contemplates his next move. This close-up shot reveals not only Santos-Dumont's physical proximity to danger but also highlights his indomitable spirit as he continues to push boundaries in pursuit of human flight. As one gazes upon this photograph, it becomes clear that Santos-Dumont was more than just an aviator; he was a true scientist and sportsman who fearlessly embraced risk for the sake of progress. His contributions to aviation and aeronautics would forever shape our understanding of flight. This remarkable image from "Le Petit Journal" provides us with an intimate glimpse into history - capturing both triumphs and setbacks - while reminding us all about the extraordinary journey undertaken by those who dared to dream beyond what seemed possible.
