17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the monumental construction train on the Trans-Caspian Railway, a symbol of progress and determination in Central Asia. The railway project, initiated by the Russians in 1879, aimed to connect distant regions and open up new opportunities for trade and transportation. In this scene from 1888, we witness the remarkable expansion as the railway reaches Samarkand, with further extensions planned for Tashkent and Andijan. The image showcases a bustling rural scene filled with soldiers in military uniforms overseeing the construction process. Among them are prisoners who have been enlisted to contribute their labor towards this ambitious endeavor. A horse-drawn carriage traverses through dirt tracks while workers diligently toil away under the scorching sun. The landscape stretches out before us, showcasing both human ingenuity and nature's vastness. This historical moment is beautifully depicted through an engraved illustration technique that brings depth and detail to life. It serves as a testament to Russian culture's resilience and dedication towards building infrastructure that would shape future generations. As we gaze upon this snapshot of history captured by "Le Journal de la Jeunesse" in Paris, we can't help but marvel at how far we've come since those early days of rail travel. This image reminds us of our shared journey towards progress and unity—a reminder that even amidst challenges, together we can overcome any obstacle standing between us and our aspirations for a better tomorrow.
