17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this vintage print from The Northcliffe Collection, we are transported back to the thrilling world of motor racing in the 1940s. The photograph captures a momentous event at the Scottish Sporting Car Club Hill Climb in 1949, where Mrs J. P. Hetherington fearlessly takes on the challenge behind the wheel of a Jaguar S. S. Amidst a sea of roaring engines and adrenaline-fueled excitement, Mrs Hetherington stands out as not only an exceptional driver but also as a trailblazer for women in motorsports. As the sole female competitor in this prestigious event, her presence serves as an inspiring testament to breaking barriers and defying societal norms. The image exudes nostalgia with its sepia tones and hints of dust kicked up by speeding tires. It transports us to an era when motor racing was raw, unfiltered, and pure passion on wheels. We can almost feel the anticipation building within spectators lining both sides of the track. This remarkable snapshot is more than just a glimpse into history; it encapsulates courage, determination, and resilience that transcends time. It reminds us that true strength knows no gender boundaries or limitations. As we admire this iconic scene frozen in time, let us celebrate Mrs J. P. Hetherington's indomitable spirit while acknowledging her contribution to paving new roads for future generations of women drivers who continue to shatter glass ceilings even today.
