23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print by Mathieu Meur captures the awe-inspiring moment of a whale shark gracefully swimming up to the surface, its majestic silhouette beautifully outlined against sunrays and fishing nets in Cenderawasih Bay, West Papua, Indonesia. The horizontal composition allows us to fully appreciate the sheer size and elegance of this gentle giant. The image transports us into the realm of animals in the wild, showcasing the untamed beauty of nature. With no people present, it emphasizes the untouched wilderness that exists beneath our oceans. The vibrant colors and sharp details bring out every nuance of this incredible creature. Whale sharks are filter feeders belonging to the elasmobranch family. They are known for their enormous size and peaceful demeanor as they glide through underwater realms. This vulnerable species plays a vital role in marine ecosystems as they help maintain balance by feeding on plankton. However, lurking beneath this serene scene is a reminder of human impact on these magnificent creatures – fishing nets symbolize threats faced by marine life due to overfishing practices. It serves as a poignant call for conservation efforts in Southeast Asia's fishing industry. Mathieu Meur's skillful photography not only showcases breathtaking natural beauty but also raises awareness about threatened species like whale sharks. Through his lens, we witness an extraordinary moment where sunlight pierces through water creating ethereal rays that illuminate both nature's wonders and its challenges simultaneously.
