23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures Penzance Station in Cornwall during the 1940s, a time when steam trains ruled the rails. At the heart of the scene is Castle Class locomotive No. 5024, Carew Castle, proudly displayed at the platform. The locomotive, with its distinctive red and black livery and intricate engineering, stands ready to haul the next goods train out of the station. In the background, the town of Penzance, with its quaint houses and narrow streets, nestles in the crook of Mount's Bay. The harbor, dotted with fishing boats and pleasure craft, glimmers in the sunlight, while the sea stretches out towards the horizon. The atmosphere is one of industry and activity, as the station bustles with passengers and goods being loaded and unloaded from the trains. The Castle Class locomotive, designed by George Churchward in 1903, was a mainstay of the Great Western Railway (GWR) fleet for decades. With its powerful engine and ability to handle heavy loads, it was ideal for the transportation of goods in and out of Cornwall's ports. The photograph offers a glimpse into a bygone era, when steam trains were the lifeblood of the community, connecting towns and villages across the region and beyond. The scene at Penzance Station in 1940 is a testament to the importance of railways in the daily lives of people, and the enduring romance of the steam age. Today, this photograph is a cherished reminder of a time when trains were the primary means of transportation and the sound of a steam whistle was a familiar and comforting sound in the landscape of Cornwall.
