23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back in time to the year 1909, capturing an advertisement poster for the highly anticipated Attercliffe Swimming Club's 31st Annual Swimming Gala. The event was held at the iconic Attercliffe Baths, a renowned hub of aquatic activities in Sheffield during that era. The poster itself is a testament to the vibrant sporting culture that thrived within this community. It showcases an array of talented swimmers gracefully diving into crystal-clear waters, their synchronized movements conveying both strength and elegance. The image serves as a powerful reminder of how swimming was not only a competitive sport but also an art form. Located on Attercliffe Road, these baths were more than just a venue; they were a symbol of pride for local residents who took great pleasure in witnessing remarkable feats accomplished by their fellow citizens. With state-of-the-art facilities and meticulously maintained pools, Attercliffe Baths became synonymous with excellence in sports. This photograph allows us to appreciate the historical significance of advertising posters as tools for promoting events long before digital media dominated our world. It reminds us of the creativity employed by organizers to entice spectators through visually striking imagery. Preserved at Sheffield Archives (ref. X3/8), this snapshot from yesteryear offers us a glimpse into the past while celebrating the enduring spirit of athleticism and community engagement fostered by organizations like Attercliffe Swimming Club over a century ago.
