17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This watercolour print, titled "Cape Evans. Looking North, 8 August 1911.3 p. m" offers a mesmerizing glimpse into the historic British Antarctic Expedition of 1910-13. Painted by the talented artist E. A. Wilson (1872-1912), this medium showcases his remarkable ability to capture the beauty and grandeur of nature. The scene depicted in this painting transports us to Cape Evans, a remote location in Antarctica, on a crisp August afternoon in 1911. The soft hues and delicate brushstrokes bring to life the icy landscape with astonishing detail and precision. As we gaze upon this artwork, we can almost feel the chill in the air and hear the distant echoes of cracking ice. Standing at Cape Evans, our eyes are drawn northward towards an awe-inspiring vista that stretches as far as the eye can see. Majestic mountains rise from frozen plains, their peaks piercing through swirling clouds that hint at impending snowfall. The vastness of this untouched wilderness is both humbling and breathtaking. It is impossible not to be captivated by Wilson's masterful use of colour; he skillfully captures the subtle shades of blue that dominate this frigid landscape while infusing it with hints of warmth through gentle strokes of pink and orange in the sky. As part of University Cambridge's Scott Polar Research Institute collection, this exquisite watercolour print serves as a poignant reminder of humanity's relentless pursuit for knowledge and exploration even amidst harsh conditions. It invites us to reflect on those brave souls who ventured into uncharted territories over a century ago – their resilience echoing through time. In preserving such treasured works like these within its walls, SPRI ensures that future generations will continue to marvel at these artistic interpretations which offer glimpses into our shared history on Earth's most extreme frontiers
