Solar power plant
Solar power plant. Oil pipes and parabolic mirrors at a solar power plant. These mirrors work by tracking the Sun across the sky and focusing its rays onto tubes that contain synthetic oil. The oil becomes super-heated and is used to boil water for steam turbine generators which produce electricity. Photographed at the Nevada Solar One solar electric generating station, Nevada, USA

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the remarkable ingenuity of solar power plants. Against a backdrop of Nevada's vast landscape, rows upon rows of parabolic mirrors and oil pipes create an awe-inspiring sight at the Nevada Solar One solar electric generating station in the United States. The parabolic mirrors, meticulously designed to track the Sun's movement across the sky, harness its powerful rays and focus them onto tubes containing synthetic oil. As these rays penetrate the tubes, they superheat the oil within. This ingenious process is then utilized to generate steam by boiling water for steam turbine generators that produce clean electricity. The image beautifully captures both the technological prowess and environmental consciousness behind this alternative energy source. The reflection on each mirror symbolizes not only our ability to harness nature's resources but also our commitment towards sustainable practices. In a world grappling with global warming and dwindling fossil fuel reserves, solar power plants like this one offer a glimmer of hope for a greener future. The meticulous arrangement of arrays and piping demonstrates how land can be efficiently utilized to maximize energy production while minimizing ecological impact. As we gaze upon this photograph from Science Photo Library, we are reminded that technology has provided us with cleaner alternatives capable of transforming sunlight into electricity – paving the way towards a brighter tomorrow powered by renewable energy sources.
