Parallel processing

Parallel processing: macrophotograph of an array of individual rectangular Inmos transputers, microprocessor chips that contain all the essential components of a traditional computer system. The term " transputer" is a hybrid of transistor and computer. A single transputer houses a central processing unit (CPU), random access memory (RAM) and four serial links. Through these links, each transputer can be linked to four others, allowing the construction of arrays in two or three dimensions. The use of multiple CPUs operating at the same time, with the great advantage of increased speed of operation, is known as parallel processing. Red lighting at base

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the intricate world of parallel processing through a mesmerizing macrophotograph. The image features an array of individual rectangular Inmos transputers, microprocessor chips that embody all the essential components of a traditional computer system. The term "transputer" itself is a clever hybrid of transistor and computer, symbolizing the fusion between these two fundamental elements. Each transputer within this visually striking composition houses a central processing unit (CPU), random access memory (RAM), and four serial links. These links serve as vital connectors, enabling each transputer to be seamlessly linked with four others. This unique connectivity allows for the construction of arrays in two or three dimensions, opening up endless possibilities for advanced computing systems. The concept behind this remarkable arrangement lies in parallel processing – the utilization of multiple CPUs operating simultaneously to achieve unparalleled speed and efficiency. With red lighting emanating from its base, this photograph beautifully captures both the technical prowess and aesthetic allure inherent in electronic technology. As we delve into fifth-generation computing, it becomes apparent that such advancements are not limited to commercial use alone but have far-reaching implications across various domains. This thought-provoking image serves as a testament to human ingenuity and our relentless pursuit of pushing technological boundaries further than ever before.
