Maize crops

Maize (Zea mays) crops. The cobs (fruiting bodies) are still wrapped in their husks (red, one seen at lower centre). Maize is one of the worlds most important crops. It can be eaten as corn-on-the- cob, as popcorn, or ground into corn flour. It can be distilled to form whisky, and extracts are used in cooking oil and margarine. Maize is a good source of potassium and vitamin A, and is high in fibre

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a vibrant field of maize crops, also known as Zea mays. The image captures the cobs, or fruiting bodies, still enveloped in their protective husks. Maize holds immense significance globally as one of the most essential crops. Its versatility is truly remarkable - it can be enjoyed as corn-on-the-cob during summer barbecues or transformed into delightful popcorn for cozy movie nights. Ground into corn flour, it serves as a staple ingredient in various culinary creations. Beyond its culinary applications, maize plays a pivotal role in other industries too. Distilling this versatile crop produces the beloved golden elixir we know as whisky. Extracts derived from maize find their way into cooking oil and margarine production, adding flavor and nutritional benefits to our meals. Maize's nutritional value should not be overlooked either; it boasts high levels of potassium and vitamin A while being rich in fiber content. This makes it an excellent dietary source for maintaining overall health. As we admire this picturesque scene of mechanized cultivation on a farm, let us appreciate the vital role that maize plays in agriculture and land use worldwide. It symbolizes sustenance and prosperity while reminding us of nature's bountiful offerings through these magnificent plants' ears brimming with life-giving potential.
