Biometric scans

Biometric scans. Computer artwork of a human eye and fingerprint. Biometrics is the identification of individuals by measuring and analysing their physiological characteristics, such as fingerprints, and eye retinas and irises. Each has unique features which can be used to identify an individual. Biometric data can be combined with personal information to form the basis of identity card systems

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from Science Photo Library showcases the fascinating world of biometric scans. In this computer artwork, we are presented with a striking visual representation of a human eye and fingerprint, symbolizing the power of biometrics in identifying individuals through their unique physiological characteristics. The concept of biometrics is revolutionizing security systems and personal identification methods. By measuring and analyzing features such as fingerprints, retinas, and irises, each person's distinct traits can be used to establish their identity. This convergence of technology and individuality forms the basis for advanced identity card systems that prioritize accuracy and reliability. However, this image also raises thought-provoking questions about privacy and surveillance in our increasingly technological society. The notion of "Big Brother" looms large as we contemplate how these cutting-edge techniques could potentially be utilized by authorities or institutions for monitoring purposes. Nevertheless, it is important to acknowledge the positive implications that biometric scans bring to various fields like forensics or law enforcement where accurate identification plays a crucial role. With advancements in facial recognition technology alongside iris scanning or fingerprint analysis, these tools have become invaluable assets in solving crimes or maintaining secure environments. Science Photo Library has masterfully captured the essence of this groundbreaking field through their stunning computer artwork – an evocative reminder of both the potential benefits and ethical considerations surrounding biometric scans.
