Artwork of psoriasis on womans back

Psoriasis. Illustration of inflamed red lesions on a womans back and arms due to the skin disease psoriasis. This is a chronic skin disorder that affects about 1% of the UK population. Lesions are typically thickened red patches covered with dry silvery scales of skin. They are caused by a ten- fold increase in the rate of new skin cell production. Why this occurs is not known, although a genetic factor may be involved as the disease is partly inherited. Onset is usually between age 10 and 25, and it recurs thereafter to a varying extent, sometimes related to stress. Treatment includes corticosteroid drugs and ointments containing coal tar derivatives

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the artwork of psoriasis on a woman's back, shedding light on the visual impact of this chronic skin disorder. The illustration vividly depicts inflamed red lesions that extend from her back to her arms, revealing the extent to which psoriasis can affect one's body. With approximately 1% of the UK population grappling with this condition, it serves as a stark reminder of its prevalence in society. Psoriasis is characterized by thickened red patches covered in dry silvery scales, resulting from an abnormal increase in new skin cell production. While the exact cause remains unknown, there is evidence suggesting a genetic component as it tends to run in families. Typically emerging between ages 10 and 25, psoriasis often reoccurs throughout one's life and may be triggered by stress. The treatment for psoriasis involves various approaches such as corticosteroid drugs and ointments containing coal tar derivatives. These interventions aim to alleviate symptoms and manage flare-ups effectively. Through this thought-provoking artwork, Science Photo Library provides valuable insight into both the medical aspects and artistic representation of psoriasis. It serves as a testament to their commitment towards promoting health care awareness through visually striking imagery while highlighting the importance of understanding and addressing conditions like psoriasis within our society.
