Artwork of insomnia

Insomnia or dreaming. Abstract illustration of a human brain depicting insomnia or otherwise the process of dreaming. An open eye is superimposed on a starry night sky, within an image of the brain. Insomnia is the inability to sleep or an inability to sleep for an adequate length of time. The condition is characterised by perpetual tired- ness and often irritability; one in three adults may suffer from insomnia at some time in their lives. Alternately, dreaming is the occurrence of ideas, emotions and sensations, during sleep. Highly visual experiences may be " seen" and " enacted" in a dream, although many dreams may not be recalled upon awakening

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This artwork of insomnia takes us on a journey into the mysterious realm of dreams and sleep disorders. The abstract illustration beautifully captures the essence of both insomnia and dreaming, showcasing the intricate workings of the human brain. At first glance, we are drawn to an open eye superimposed on a mesmerizing starry night sky within the image of the brain. This juxtaposition symbolizes the constant struggle between wakefulness and rest that individuals with insomnia face. The eye represents their inability to find solace in slumber, while the celestial backdrop hints at their longing for peaceful nights. Insomnia is more than just a fleeting inconvenience; it is a condition characterized by perpetual tiredness and irritability. As we delve deeper into this artwork, we gain insight into its psychological impact on those affected. The artist skillfully portrays these emotions through subtle brushstrokes and vibrant colors, evoking empathy from viewers who may have experienced similar struggles themselves. On another level, this piece also explores the enigmatic world of dreams. Dreams can be highly visual experiences where ideas come alive and emotions run wild during our moments of repose. However, not all dreams are remembered upon awakening – they often slip away like whispers in the wind. Through this thought-provoking print, Science Photo Library invites us to contemplate both sides of sleep: its elusiveness as well as its potential for profound imagination. It serves as a reminder that sleep disorders such as insomnia can significantly impact one's overall well-being while emphasizing how essential quality rest
