23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative black-and-white photograph taken by Charles E. Brown on 27 May 1942, we witness the raw power and intensity of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and Royal Air Force (RAF) personnel as they manhandle a 4000 lb bomb onto a trolley in front of a Vickers Wellington III bomber. The image is a poignant reminder of the immense sacrifices made during World War II. The Vickers Wellington III, a stalwart of the RAF's Bomber Command, is seen in the background, its distinctive shape silhouetted against the grey skies. This iconic British-built aircraft was a key player in the Allied bombing campaign against Nazi Germany, with its versatility and long range making it an invaluable asset. The focus of the photograph, however, is the large bomb, dwarfing the men who are carefully positioning it on the trolley. The bomb's menacing shape and size are a stark reminder of the destructive power it carries. The determination and focus on the faces of the men as they work together to move the bomb underscores the importance of their role in the war effort. The scene is set against the backdrop of RAF Mildenhall, a strategic airfield in Suffolk, England, which played a crucial role in the RAF's bomber operations during World War II. The photograph captures a moment of intense activity, as the men work tirelessly to ensure the Wellington is armed and ready for its next mission. This powerful image not only showcases the physical demands of wartime service but also highlights the camaraderie and teamwork that was essential for the success of the Allied forces. It is a testament to the bravery and resilience of the men and women who served during World War II, and a reminder of the sacrifices they made for the greater good.
