17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative photograph, the majestic silhouette of an Avro York transport aircraft stands proud against the backdrop of a stormy sky. Taken by renowned aviation photographer, Charles E. Brown, during the 1940s, this image captures the raw power and grace of this iconic World War II aircraft, which once played a crucial role in the British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) fleet. The Avro York, a four-engine transport aircraft, was designed and manufactured by the Avro Aircraft Company in Manchester, England, during the late 1930s. Its first flight took place on 21st August 1941, and it quickly gained a reputation for its versatility and reliability. The RAF initially operated the York as a military transport and later used it for various roles, including maritime patrol and air-sea rescue. By the end of the war, the Avro York had proven itself to be an invaluable asset, and its civilian variant was put into service with several airlines, including BOAC. This photograph, taken at the RAF Museum, showcases the BOAC livery adorning the aircraft's gleaming fuselage, a testament to its post-war commercial use. The image exudes a sense of history and nostalgia, with the ominous clouds and the solitary York standing as a reminder of the pivotal role that aviation played during the World War II era. The Avro York's enduring legacy continues to inspire aviation enthusiasts and historians alike, making this photograph a captivating piece of aviation history.
