A police officer seizes tyres that protesters use for burning, during a nationwide strike in Santo Domingo July 11, 2011. 23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this powerful image captured by Eduardo Munoz, a police officer is seen seizing a pile of tires that protesters had intended to burn during a nationwide strike in Santo Domingo on July 11,2011. The striking citizens were voicing their discontent with the tax package and demanding reductions in the prices of essential goods such as food, medicine, and fuel. They also called for a significant wage increase for both private and government employees. The low angle view adds intensity to the scene as we witness the officer's determined action against these symbolic objects of protest. Against an urban backdrop dominated by an electricity pylon and buildings, this unrecognizable figure stands out amidst real people who are caught up in this moment of civil unrest. The creative use of tires as tools for demonstration takes an oddly poetic turn when juxtaposed against the serene sky filled with clouds. This photograph serves as a reminder that even seemingly mundane objects can be transformed into potent symbols within our environment. Eduardo Munoz masterfully captures not only the physical act but also conveys the charged atmosphere surrounding this event through his lens. It is images like these that remind us how photography can document history while simultaneously evoking emotions and sparking conversations about social justice and political change.
