Buildings damaged by fighting are pictured in the village of Nikishine
Buildings damaged by fighting are pictured in the village of Nikishine, south east of Debaltseve February 17, 2015. Pro-Russian rebels and government forces fought street-to-street in a strategic town in east Ukraine on Tuesday and refused to pull back their heavy guns, all but scuppering hopes that a European-brokered peace deal will end months of conflict. Military trucks and tanks came and went in the largely destroyed village of Nikishine as the rebels pounded nearby Debaltseve with rockets, heavy artillery and mortar bombs. 23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This powerful print captures the devastating aftermath of intense fighting in the village of Nikishine, located southeast of Debaltseve in Ukraine. The image showcases a scene of destruction and ruin as buildings damaged by relentless combat are depicted against a backdrop of an open sky, tinged with shades of blue. It is February 17,2015, and pro-Russian rebels and government forces engaged in fierce street-to-street battles that day, disregarding pleas to withdraw heavy weaponry. This defiance dashed hopes for a peaceful resolution brokered by European mediators to end months-long conflict. In this desolate landscape, military trucks and tanks traverse through the largely destroyed village while nearby Debaltseve becomes a target for rebel rockets, artillery fire, and mortar bombs. The debris-littered streets covered in snow bear witness to the violence that has ravaged these once-thriving structures. From an aerial perspective, we gain insight into the scale of devastation inflicted upon this community. The absence of people emphasizes the eerie silence that now engulfs Nikishine—a place where architecture once thrived but now lies abandoned amidst danger. This photograph serves as a stark reminder not only of physical destruction but also highlights the human cost endured during times of armed conflict.
