To match feature WATER /

Snow falls near Phillips, California in this March 2, 2009 file photo. Water raised leafy green Los Angeles from the desert and filled arid valleys with the nations largest fruit and vegetable crop. Each time more water was needed, another megaproject was built, from dams of the major rivers to a canal stretching much of the length of the state. But those methods are near their end. There is very little water left untapped and global warming, the gradual increase of temperature as carbon dioxide and other gases retain more of the suns heat, has created new uncertainties.

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the serene beauty of a snowy landscape near Phillips, California on March 2,2009. The image showcases the delicate dance between water and land as snowflakes gracefully fall from the sky. It serves as a poignant reminder of how water has transformed Los Angeles from a desert into a thriving oasis, nourishing leafy green landscapes and turning arid valleys into fruitful havens for the nation's largest fruit and vegetable crops. Throughout history, ambitious megaprojects such as dams and canals have been constructed to meet the increasing demand for water in California. However, these traditional methods are now reaching their limits. With little untapped water remaining and the looming threat of global warming exacerbating this scarcity, new uncertainties arise. The gradual rise in temperature caused by carbon dioxide emissions traps more heat from the sun, intensifying climate change effects like droughts and unpredictable weather patterns. As we gaze upon this mesmerizing photograph, we are reminded that our relationship with water is changing rapidly. Photographer Max Whittaker skillfully captured both the tranquility of nature's winter embrace and an underlying message about our future challenges regarding water resources. This thought-provoking image compels us to reflect on sustainable solutions that will ensure access to this precious resource for generations to come.
