23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back in time to the bustling streets of New Amsterdam in the 1600s. The image showcases Dutch colonists marking Wall Street, a historic landmark that would later become synonymous with finance and power. Hand-colored to bring out its vibrant details, this halftone reproduction of a 19th-century illustration transports us to an era when New York City was just a humble village. The scene is filled with elements that reflect the heritage and traditions of this early American settlement. A windmill stands tall amidst the modest houses, symbolizing both industry and innovation. Livestock roam freely through the unpaved streets, reminding us of simpler times when agriculture played a vital role in daily life. As we explore further into this snapshot of history, we notice ships docked at the nearby sea port—a testament to New Amsterdam's importance as a colonial trading hub. The presence of pigs and cows adds another layer of authenticity, depicting how settlers relied on livestock for sustenance. This evocative illustration captures not only the physical landscape but also offers glimpses into the lives and aspirations of those who called this place home. It serves as a reminder that before it became one of the world's financial centers, Wall Street was once an integral part of a small Dutch colony known as New Netherland or New Amsterdam—where dreams were born and history was made.
