23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This vintage print takes us back to the early 20th century, showcasing a picturesque scene from North Wales. Produced as a promotional poster for the Great Western Railway in 1910, it beautifully captures the essence of leisurely pursuits amidst nature's tranquility. The artwork by Alec Fraser transports us to Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid) in Gwynedd, where two men are seen enjoying a serene day out on their small rowing boat. The focal point of this idyllic image is undoubtedly the fishing activity taking place on Bala Lake. One man can be seen skillfully casting his rod into the crystal-clear waters, while his companion patiently waits with a net at hand. This portrays not only their shared love for angling but also highlights the abundance of free fishing opportunities that awaited visitors to this stunning region. The surrounding landscape is nothing short of breathtaking; lush green hills gently roll into the distance, creating an enchanting backdrop against which these leisure activities unfold. It is evident that Fraser has masterfully captured both the natural beauty and recreational possibilities offered by North Wales. Printed by Andrew Reid & Co Ltd in Newcastle upon Tyne, this poster serves as more than just an advertisement for railway travel; it encapsulates an era when exploring new destinations was eagerly anticipated and celebrated through artful depictions such as this one. Today, it stands as a testament to our enduring fascination with nostalgia and our appreciation for timeless landscapes like those found in North Wales.
