23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print transports us back to the picturesque village of Monks Eleigh in Suffolk during the 1950s. The original oil painting by Leonard Russell Squirrell, commissioned for a British Railways (Eastern Region) poster, beautifully captures the essence of this idyllic countryside scene. In the foreground, we see villagers gathered around a traditional water pump on the village green. Their animated conversations and laughter suggest that this communal activity is not just about obtaining water but also serves as an opportunity for social interaction and community bonding. The simplicity of their daily lives is evident in their humble attire and unhurried demeanor. As our gaze moves towards the background, a charming church emerges from behind lush trees. Its spire reaches towards the sky, symbolizing faith and spirituality at the heart of this close-knit community. The juxtaposition of nature's beauty with man-made structures creates a harmonious balance that epitomizes rural England. The artist's attention to detail brings every element to life - from vibrant colors depicting blooming flowers on the green to intricate brushstrokes capturing architectural nuances. This print allows us to appreciate Squirrell's talent in preserving moments frozen in time. Through this artwork, we are transported into an era where simplicity reigned supreme, where villages like Monks Eleigh were untouched by modernization yet filled with warmth and camaraderie. It serves as a reminder of our rich cultural heritage and invites us to cherish these timeless treasures that define our nation's history.
