Jeremy Thorpe Liberal North Devon Outside Pointing 1973

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to a significant moment in British political history. Captured by the talented photographer Bill Rowntree, it features Jeremy Thorpe, the charismatic Liberal MP, outside near Barnstaple on September 12th, 1973. The image exudes an air of determination as Thorpe stands confidently with his finger pointed forward. His piercing gaze reveals a man deeply committed to his political cause and ready to make his mark on North Devon's political landscape. In the backdrop of this rural setting, we witness a snapshot of Thorpe's connection with the people he represented. The photograph beautifully encapsulates both his passion for politics and his dedication to serving the community. Thorpe was known for being an influential figure within liberal politics during the 1970s. As leader of the Liberal Party from 1967 to 1976, he played a pivotal role in shaping its policies and direction at that time. Bill Rowntree's expert composition captures not only Thorpe's physical presence but also hints at his magnetic personality that drew supporters towards him. This print serves as a reminder of an era when politicians were seen as larger-than-life figures who inspired hope and change among their constituents. As we delve into this nostalgic piece from Memory Lane Prints' collection, we are transported back to a time when Jeremy Thorpe stood tall outside Barnstaple - symbolizing both ambition and progress in British politics.
