23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the iconic British Steel, South Bank Coke Ovens in Lackenby on a misty morning of 13th June 1987. The image takes us back to the industrial heyday of the 1980s, showcasing the immense scale and power of Britain's steel industry. The towering coke ovens stand as a testament to Teesside's rich industrial heritage. Their imposing presence dominates the landscape, juxtaposing against rows of humble homes that dot the area. This visual contrast serves as a reminder of how industries like steel played an integral role in shaping communities and providing livelihoods for countless families. However, this photograph also sheds light on some less desirable aspects associated with heavy industry. Thick plumes of smoke billow from chimneys, casting an eerie haze over the surroundings. The environmental impact is evident; pollution hangs in the air, serving as a stark reminder of challenges faced by both workers and residents alike. Despite these concerns, this image encapsulates an era when nationalized industries like British Steel Corporation (BSC) were at their peak. It represents not just a physical structure but also symbolizes resilience and determination amidst changing times. As we gaze upon this snapshot frozen in time, it prompts us to reflect on our past while appreciating how far we have come since then – both environmentally and economically. This print from Memory Lane Prints offers viewers a glimpse into history through its lens - capturing moments that shaped lives and landscapes forever etched in memory.
