Boots Braces Intimidating Serious Skinheads Uk Social History Unknown Ages Youth Culture

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photograph titled "A group of skinheads sitting on the steps of Thomson House, works entrance" we are transported back to the vibrant youth culture of 1970s Newcastle. The image captures a moment frozen in time, as seven serious-looking individuals confidently pose on the steps, exuding an air of both fashion and intimidation. Dressed in their signature attire, these skinheads proudly display their distinctive style with boots and braces that symbolize rebellion and unity within their subculture. Their unkempt haircuts further emphasize their defiance against societal norms. Although unknown ages, it is evident that these young people have found solace and camaraderie amongst each other. The location itself adds another layer to the narrative - Thomson House, works entrance - suggesting a sense of belonging or perhaps even employment ties within this close-knit group. As they sit together with purposeful expressions etched across their faces, one can't help but wonder about the stories behind each individual's journey into this particular counterculture movement. This print from Memory Lane Prints serves as a powerful reminder of how youth culture shapes social history. It invites us to reflect upon the influence and impact that such groups had during this era in UK society. Through its timeless appeal, it sparks curiosity while preserving an important slice of our collective memory for generations to come.
