23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we are transported back to the vibrant atmosphere of Wythenshawe Market in the 1990s. Stallholders, determined and proud, strike a pose for the camera amidst their bustling stalls. From left to right, we see Sue Hudson, Derek Hamnett, Martin Osborne, M Mahmod, and Pat Wilkinson - faces etched with determination and resilience. However, behind their smiles lies an undercurrent of frustration and anger towards the Council. A parking ban has dealt a severe blow to business just as Christmas approaches – traditionally a time when markets thrive. The once-thriving market now stands eerily quiet as customers are deterred by limited access. The image captures not only the individual stories of these stallholders but also represents a larger struggle faced by small businesses across the country during this era. It serves as a poignant reminder that even in times of celebration and joy like Christmas, economic challenges can cast shadows on communities. As we gaze upon this photograph today, it prompts us to reflect on how our actions can impact local economies and livelihoods. It is a testament to the strength and resilience of these traders who continue to fight against adversity while preserving traditions that have shaped our society for generations. This Memory Lane Print encapsulates both nostalgia for simpler times at bustling markets and highlights ongoing issues faced by independent traders worldwide – making it an invaluable piece of history frozen in time.
