Coal Sack Santa Wave Winding Gear

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Step into a magical underground wonderland this Christmas as Father Christmas makes an extraordinary arrival at Big Pit, Blaenavon. In this print captured on the 4th of December 1986, we witness the jolly old man himself waving from his unique grotto nestled deep within a coal mine-shaft. This unconventional twist to Santa's traditional abode has South Wales children buzzing with excitement. Descending down a remarkable 300 ft 'chimney' using poit ponies instead of reindeer, young visitors are in for an unforgettable adventure. The image showcases the enchanting moment when Father Christmas emerges from the winding gear, donned in his iconic red suit and carrying his trusty sack filled with gifts. The joyous expressions on both Santa's face and those of eager children perfectly capture the spirit of anticipation that fills the air. As part of their festive tradition, families flock to Big Pit each weekend until Christmas to experience this one-of-a-kind encounter with St. Nick himself. This heartwarming scene reminds us all that even in unexpected places like a coal pit, the magic and generosity of Christmas can be found. Preserved by Western Mail and Echo Copyright through Memory Lane Prints, this photograph transports us back to simpler times when imagination knew no bounds and holiday cheer was shared by all.
