Gulf War Operation Desert Storm. An RAF Tornado F3 fighter taxi
Gulf War Operation Desert Storm. An RAF Tornado F3 fighter taxis in in front of a USAF Galaxy transport aircraft in Dhahran
An RAF Tornado F3 fighter/bomber taxis in preparation for take-off. Behind it, one of the massive United States Air Force Galaxy transport craft waits for its next flight. RAF pilots will always have a lot to live up to after their predecessors fought so bravely during the Battle of Britain. Those who flew during the Gulf War didn t let the side down. The RAF developed a tactic of bombing Iraqi airfields from a height of only 33 yards. Their counterparts in the USAF described the tactic as suicidal and moved to get the RAF to employ laser-guided bombing systems. Despite the flaws in tactics however, no-one could ever doubt the bravery of those Tornado pilots who unquestioningly flew those missions and litterally looked down the barrels of the Iraqi guns

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a significant moment during the Gulf War Operation Desert Storm. In the foreground, an RAF Tornado F3 fighter/bomber can be seen taxiing in preparation for take-off. Its sleek and powerful form exudes confidence and determination. Behind it, a colossal United States Air Force Galaxy transport aircraft patiently awaits its next mission. The image serves as a reminder of the immense bravery displayed by RAF pilots during this conflict. Drawing inspiration from their predecessors who fought valiantly in the Battle of Britain, these modern-day heroes fearlessly took to the skies to defend their nation's interests. During the Gulf War, RAF pilots adopted a daring tactic of bombing Iraqi airfields from an astonishingly low altitude of only 33 yards. This audacious approach was met with skepticism by their American counterparts in the USAF, who deemed it suicidal. Consequently, efforts were made to convince the RAF to employ laser-guided bombing systems instead. However flawed their tactics may have been perceived at times, there is no denying that these Tornado pilots demonstrated unwavering courage as they flew perilous missions directly into harm's way – staring down enemy guns without hesitation. This remarkable photograph not only commemorates those who served but also pays tribute to all members of both air forces involved in this historic conflict – reminding us of their selflessness and dedication throughout one of history's most intense aerial battles.
