17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to the bustling city of London in October 1971. The majestic HMS Belfast gracefully sails up the iconic River Thames, passing by the magnificent St Paul's Cathedral on its way to its mooring in the Pool of London. This historic moment marks a significant turning point for this once mighty warship, as it is about to embark on a new chapter as a museum open to the public. The image beautifully captures the grandeur and scale of both St Paul's Cathedral and HMS Belfast, showcasing two remarkable landmarks that have stood the test of time. As we gaze upon this snapshot from decades past, we are transported to an era where steamboats traversed these waters daily, carrying goods and people from all corners of the globe. Eric Piper's masterful composition allows us to appreciate not only the architectural brilliance of St Paul's but also highlights how effortlessly HMS Belfast navigates through this vibrant cityscape. The contrast between these man-made marvels against London's urban backdrop creates a sense of awe and wonder. As we reflect on this photograph, we can't help but feel grateful for those who had the foresight to preserve such historical treasures like HMS Belfast. This print serves as a reminder that our past holds invaluable lessons waiting to be discovered by future generations – lessons about resilience, innovation, and above all else, our shared human history.
