Animals: Dogs: Jason has Slipped Disc. 4 yrs. Old pug Jason who has 17 Champions in his family has slipped a Disc. His owner Mrs. Dorothy Whittall of Staner Court Ramsgate, Kent, first noticed that he was closing control of his hind quarters and constantly flopping over. A visit to the vet revealed that he has a slipped disc, which needless to say is rather painful for Jason. Keeping still is part of the treatment of a slipped disc and this of course is rather difficult for a dog to understand. Jason is therefore in a plaster cast, and is having a series of pain relieving injections- if his does not succeed he would eventually have complete paralysis in his hind quarters and have to he put to sleep. Mrs. Whittall and her Mining Engineer Husband are praying that the treatment will be successful. The cast covers his shoulders, back and sides to his hind and adhesive bandages cover the cast to prevent Jason breaking it off. The vet feels he may have slipped the disc by endear curing to jump too high possibly on to a chair or bent. Jason with his slipped disc March 1974 P022235

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This heartwarming print captures the unfortunate struggle of Jason, a 4-year-old pug who has slipped a disc. Despite his young age, Jason boasts an impressive lineage with 17 champions in his family. However, this proud heritage is overshadowed by his current predicament. Jason's owner, Mrs. Dorothy Whittall of Staner Court Ramsgate, Kent, noticed that he was losing control of his hind quarters and constantly toppling over. A visit to the vet confirmed her fears – Jason had indeed suffered a slipped disc. The pain must have been unbearable for him. To aid in his recovery, Jason finds himself encased in a plaster cast that covers not only his shoulders but also extends down to his hindquarters. This immobilization is crucial for healing but poses challenges for an active and energetic dog like him. In addition to the cast, Jason receives regular pain-relieving injections as part of his treatment plan. His loving owners are hopeful that these efforts will be successful because if they aren't, complete paralysis awaits poor Jason and he may have to be euthanized. The photograph showcases the resilience and determination of both Mrs. Whittall and her Mining Engineer Husband as they pray for their beloved pet's recovery. Adhesive bandages secure the cast tightly so that mischievous little Jason cannot break free from it. March 1974 serves as a reminder of the difficult journey faced by this courageous pug named Jason – one filled with hope amidst uncertainty and prayers for a successful outcome.
