Otter that Turned Rotter: Cosy job, being a photographer
Otter that Turned Rotter: Cosy job, being a photographer. Unless, that is, you happen to be filming an otter called Spade. Daily Mirror cameraman Alisdair Macdonald met up with Spade at Earsham, Suffolk, where the movie Tarka The Otter is being shot. The two year old otter, who co-stars as Tarka with baby otter Tarquina, welcomed Alisdair with a friendly peck. But then he hogged Alisdairs camera. And suddenly it was more a close encounter of the Jaws kind. Alisdair said ruefully; " I gently tried to push his body off the lens. He spun round with incredible speed, sinking his teeth into my hand. Poised...Star before the camera.

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Otter that Turned Rotter - A Close Encounter of the Jaws Kind
EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this print from 1978, we witness the unexpected hazards faced by a Daily Mirror cameraman named Alisdair Macdonald during the filming of Tarka The Otter in Earsham, Suffolk. Alisdair had the pleasure of meeting Spade, a mischievous two-year-old otter who plays Tarka alongside baby otter Tarquina in the movie. As Alisdair approached Spade with his camera, he was greeted with a friendly peck from this adorable creature. Little did he know that Spade had other plans for their encounter. In an amusing turn of events, Spade decided to claim ownership over Alisdair's camera and refused to let go. Attempting to regain control of his equipment, Alisdair gently pushed against Spade's body. However, what followed was nothing short of astonishing. With lightning speed and precision, Spade spun around and sank his teeth into poor Alisdair's hand. Despite this unexpected twist in their interaction, it is evident from the photograph that there is no ill will between them. Both man and otter share a moment frozen in time - one filled with humor and camaraderie amidst the challenges faced on set. This image serves as a reminder that even in seemingly cozy jobs like photography or working with animals on film sets, surprises can lurk just beneath the surface. It captures both the cute nature
