Fashions - 1970s. Button up your overcoat. Store boss Irvine Sellars is giving
Fashions - 1970s. Button up your overcoat. Store boss Irvine Sellars is giving the fashion world something to sing about - the return of the Great British Overcoat. And to make sure his message hits just the right note hes putting it across with music - that hit of the Roaring Twenties which begins " Button Up Your Overcoat." Mr. Sellars has paid for the rights to reproduce sheets of the score, which will be displayed in his forty three stores. The overcoat has been overlooked lately, with everyone either layering themselves in winter knitwear or else swathing themselves in duffle jackets. The poor old overcoat has never had a very exciting image - as most girls have always been glad to settle for something with more sex appeal. But Mr. Sellars campaign with its hint of nostalgia could change the shape of British winters. One piece of good news about buttoning up an overcoat is the price - it hasn t gone up since last year. Wrap-Around coat in a grey woollen mixture with dog-tooth check collar. By Elgee, price £ 42.50. Pastel stripe socks, Mary Quant, 55p. Leather boots by Sacha price £ 19.99. November 1975 P017504

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Fashions - 1970s: Button up your overcoat and step into a world of timeless style. Store boss Irvine Sellars is bringing back the Great British Overcoat, giving the fashion world something to sing about. To ensure his message resonates with just the right harmony, he has chosen to convey it through music – specifically, the hit song from the Roaring Twenties, 'Button Up Your Overcoat. ' Mr. Sellars has even obtained permission to reproduce sheets of the score, which will be proudly displayed in all forty-three of his stores. In recent times, the overcoat has been overshadowed by winter knitwear and duffle jackets. Its image lacked excitement as most women preferred garments with more sex appeal. However, Mr. Sellars' campaign infused with nostalgia might just reshape British winters for good. One delightful aspect of buttoning up an overcoat is its price – it remains unchanged since last year. Take this wrap-around coat in a sophisticated grey woollen mixture featuring a dog-tooth check collar by Elgee; priced at £42.50, it exudes elegance and warmth simultaneously. Complete your ensemble with pastel stripe socks designed by Mary Quant for only 55p and leather boots from Sacha priced at £19.99 – both adding that perfect finishing touch to your fashionable look. Let us embrace this revival of classic style as we button up our overcoats and embark on a journey down Memory Lane.
